Suha Arraf
Suha Arraf was born on May 7, 1969, in Mi’ilya, Israel. She is a Palestinian director, writer, and journalist who has significantly influenced the film industry. She earned a degree in philosophy and literature from the University of Haifa in 1990, followed by a degree in humanities from the University of Tel Aviv in 1994. Later, in 2001, she completed her studies in screenwriting in Tel Aviv.
She worked as an investigator for Betzelem, the Israeli organization for protecting human rights in the Territories, then as a TV presenter before becoming an investigative reporter and producer.
Suha did a stint writing for the daily Ha¹aretz and worked as a researcher/producer for several international TV networks. Apart from being a documentary film director, Suha has written three feature dramas, one of which, The Syrian Bride, directed by Eran Riklis, received international acclaim—also, the lemon tree, directed by Eran Replies. Suha was nominated by the European Academy for ‘Best Script’.
Arraf is known for her poignant and provocative works, including “Villa Touma” (2014), “Lemon Tree” (2008), and “Syrian Bride” (2004). In addition to her writing credits, she has worked as a producer and director for several projects.
