Amy Ziering
Amy Ziering is an American film producer and director, primarily known for her work in documentary films. She was born in September 1962 in Massachusetts and grew up in Beverly Hills, California. Ziering is the daughter of Sigi Ziering, a Holocaust survivor, and Marilyn Ziering. She graduated from Amherst College before pursuing graduate work at Yale University, where she studied with Jacques Derrida.
Amy Ziering is a frequent collaborator of director Kirby Dick, with whom she co-directed films such as “Derrida” in 2002 and “On the Record” in 2020. In addition to co-directing, Ziering has also produced several of Dick’s films. She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature in 2013 for producing the Dick-directed film “The Invisible War”.
Ziering’s notable works include the Oscar-nominated documentary “The Invisible War,” which explores the issue of sexual assault in the military, and “On the Record,” a powerful examination of the intersection of the #MeToo movement and Black Lives Matter. Her most recent project, “Not So Pretty,” is a four-part investigation-driven exploration of the hidden dangers in everyday cosmetic products. Ziering’s documentaries have had a significant impact on American politics and culture, contributing to real-world change.
